Tom Kennedy dies at 63
Tom Kennedy, an editor, author and prominent producer of film trailers, died Wednesday, 12 ,. 7, in West Hillsides, Calif. He was 63. After becoming an editor on PBS children's show "The Large Blue Marble" for quite some time, the NY-based Kennedy moved in 1977 to La, becoming senior editor, producer and project director at Kaleidoscope Films, one of the leading gamers within the film trailer industry, where he oversaw the audiovisual creative advertising for film campaigns. He authored and created trailers, TV spots and product reels for that major galleries, focusing on campaigns for movies including "The Wild Bunch,Inch "Episode 6,Inch "Indiana Johnson and also the Temple of Disaster," "Indiana Johnson and also the Last Campaign," "The Terminator," "The Entire Year of just living Precariously" and also the first four "Star WarsInch films. Kennedy also directed an element, 1982 sci-fier "Time Master," created by Roger Corman's " New World " Entertainment. After fifteen years at Kaleidoscope, Kennedy moved in 1992 to Cimarron/Sausage/O'Brien, where, as professional producer and partner, he oversaw audiovisual ad campaigns for movies including "Fundamental Instinct," "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2," "Unforgiven," "The Mask," "Get Shorty," "True Lies" and "Damaged Arrow." In 1997, Kennedy grew to become senior Vice president of creative advertising at MGM/UA, where he oversaw the update from the Mission Impossible franchise. In 2000, Kennedy began Technical Knock Out Pictures. Additionally to his efforts like a producer of trailers, Kennedy did a lot of voice-over work, recording promotions for ABC and Showtime, in addition to a large number of trailers and teaser games. Kennedy would be a native from the Bronx and analyzed film in the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
